IGP Coteaux de Narbonne

Narbonne gives its name to this IGP situated around the former Roman Gaul capital, which, since that period, has always been a city of wine and trade. The wine-growers of the Coteaux de Narbonne (Hills of Narbonne) knew how to preserve this identity in the wine-making tradition of this small region, and naturally used the silhouette of the cathedral as their logo. The vineyards benefit from a strict Mediterranean climate characterized by hot and dry summers and gentle winters. The composition of the vineyards,  comprised principally of old plantings, was completed by outside grape varieties with a shorter growing period, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the reds, and Chardonnay and Sauvignon for the whites.

The strong development of tourism equally allows you to get to know the IGP Coteaux de Narbonne, notably due to the strong network of tasting cellars and numerous wine-making events. The vines and the wines are always at the heart of economic activity. The vines contribute strongly to the organization of this delicate territory, and each summer they play a particularly important role in the fight against fires.
