IGP Pays Cathare

The Pays Cathare IGP stretches over a large part of the Aude department. This IGP owes its name to the desire to distinguish itself with a certain state of mind made of pride and authenticity. With this name, the wines therefore join the large family of agricultural products and a quality food-processing industry marked with the “Le Pays Cathare” label. Thus, the wine-growers chose to connect the development of their business section to the development of tourism in the Aude Pays Cathare, relying notably on a network of chateaus sprinkled throughout the territory. Several hundred thousand visitors discover these wine-growers each year after roaming around the vineyards.

Present in practically every geographic area, the vines extend from the Corbières Mountains in the south to the Black Mountain in the north, with a hilly zone at its heart traversed by the Aude River, which ends its journey close to Narbonne. The Pays Cathare IGP is available in red, white, and rosé, though 85% of their wines are red.

The diversity and the richness of the wines reflect the authenticity of the region. These wines never miss an opportunity to be tasted at a special event or medieval festival!
